While low-income working families comprise close to one-third of all working families in America, the significant differences among racial/ethnic groups present a critical challenge to ensuring economic growth and bringing opportunities to all workers, families, and communities across the United States.
Most individuals that come to us are working poor, and for them these are needs, not wants.
The individuals and families come from all walks of life, whether disabled, elderly, children (a large portion of our visitors) and many with your help can get back on their feet or at the very least face the coming week with hope and dignity.
We are a direct service provider providing front line services by reaching out through street outreach. We engage with homeless individuals, youth and families with children, consistently offering a helping hand to those who require assistance during difficult times. We also collaborate and partner with other area service providers to provide support.
To improve our community -- to make them places where people are healthy, safe, and cared for -- takes a lot of work. We know all too well that we can't do it alone. The ability to partner effectively with other individuals & organizations -- both inside and outside the community -- is absolutely essential to doing what we like to call "the work" of building healthy communities.
When we talk about building healthier communities, we mean the process of people working together to address what matters to them.
Our collaboration with donors, volunteers, municipal government, school district and community agencies help us to give a life rope to those we serve.
